The area strengthens community bonds and reinvigorates a longstanding tradition of outdoor recreation and winter sports in Central Maine. The public facility provides a venue for youth ski lessons and popular community events such as the Winter Carnival, Paintball Biathlon, Central Maine Mountain Bike Festival, and competitive biathlon and Nordic skiing events.

Quarry Road's world-class trail system provides a venue capable of hosting regional and national competitions, summer or winter, attracting participants and spectators from across New England and beyond.
